Abstract

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a virus that attacks the immune system, while Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is the final stage of HIV infection, characterized by severe immune suppression and the emergence of opportunistic infections. HIV/AIDS remains a global health issue, including in Indonesia. According to data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the number of HIV cases continues to increase annually, with tens of thousands of new cases reported each year. HIV/AIDS patients face various physical, psychological, and spiritual challenges that affect their quality of life. Spiritual interventions such as happy spiritual can be a holistic approach to help improve patients' quality of life by providing peace, hope, and meaning in life. This study aimed to determine the effect of happy spiritual on the quality of life of HIV/AIDS patients at RSUD RA Kartini Jepara. This research used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 24 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the WHOQOL-HIV BREF questionnaire before and after the happy spiritual intervention. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed an improvement in the quality of life of HIV/AIDS patients after receiving the happy spiritual intervention. Patients with good quality of life increased from 4 respondents (16.7%) to 21 respondents (87.5%), while those with poor quality of life decreased from 20 respondents (83.3%) to 3 respondents (12.5%). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in quality of life scores before and after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000. This indicates that the happy spiritual intervention had a significant effect on improving the quality of life of HIV/AIDS patients. Happy spiritual therapy is proven to be effective in improving the quality of life of HIV/AIDS patients. This intervention can be used as a nursing approach that considers the spiritual aspects of patients.
